Travel Options While Vacationing in Mexico

A Mexican vacation is one of the best vacations for families, couples, or going solo. If you have always wanted to visit Mexico and are now planning your trip, you may have to find transportation to see all the sites.

If you are planning a trip using a vacation package at one of the resorts, going for golf, rest and relaxation, or just to lay on the beach, you may not need a form of travel. However if you want to see the sights, there are several methods of getting around.

Driving is the number one mode of transportation if you like to jump out anywhere and see what is going on. If you want to take your car, you will need to check out what is required for legal driving in Mexico. It is not going to be as difficult as you might think.

Taking your car with you requires filing for an import permit. They can be obtained before going to Mexico or shortly after arriving. If you do not have an import permit, this can cause a lot of problems. Your vehicle can be seized and held in an impound lot. You can be jailed or fined or both.

Not only will you need to have an import permit, but you will require insurance that is obtained in Mexico. Your current insurance is not recognized as being legal in Mexico. Only insurance that is purchased in Mexico or internationally is considered to be legal in Mexico.

If you do not want to use your personal vehicle on this trip, you can fly to Mexico and rent a car. This is not expensive and many people choose to do this rather than taking their vehicle.

The requirements are not all that different than what you need in the United States. At least twenty five years of age, having a driver’s license to start with, and an insurance policy that is up to date are basically what you will need.

Exploring Mexico by train can be a great way of seeing the countryside and the great sights that are native to Mexico. In addition to traveling from one city to the next, there are also tours available by train.

Many of these tours are offered in Mexico as a way to see the different areas. Similar to any other tour that you may take, the train tours will educate you somewhat on the land and history of Mexico.

There are other methods of traveling in Mexico if you do not want to drive or take a train. Bus rides are common and are available on a regular basis from some points in Mexico. Highly traveled spots may have a bus leaving every hour.

Mexico has bus service from little known travel spots as well so there should not be a problem catching a bus from many different vacation locations.

In addition to the basic ways of getting around while you are on vacation, such as a bus, train, or car, there is the option of a boat tour. This is another great way of sight-seeing on your Mexican vacation.

The boat tours will take you from city to city and you will enjoy the relaxing time to be had on the water adventure.

You can choose from many methods of transportation to go from one spot to another while enjoying your vacation. The method you choose will enable you to see different sights and historical places of interest along your travel route.
